Great Voices: The Art of Singing

Description
We all have voice boxes, so why can’t we all sing like Caruso or Callas? How do opera stars develop those soaring, achingly beautiful voices? How can they sing for three hours without a microphone, never sounding shrill and still being heard over a sixty-piece orchestra? Ms. Mauch has some answers. She’ll explore with us what lies behind this stunning art form, using CDs and DVDs to provide examples from the present and recent past to illustrate what its practitioners bring to their art and how they train to produce it. Don’t miss this chance to learn about the balance of natural talent, instruction, and practice that create such vocal miracle workers.
