Course Description

Conductor Bailey will guide us through a detailed look into the lives and music of three of the most famous composers of the mid-19th century. He’ll start with Liszt’s journey from rockstar popularity to religious solitude. Then it’s on to Chopin’s tempestuous affair with George Sand and a sharp focus on the Polish composer’s piano works. He’ll conclude his survey of the trio with examination of Schumann’s mental disorders, romance with Clara Wieck, and a look at the inspirations for some of his masterpieces. A JKB course without music to accompany the stories? Not likely. Come learn, listen, and enjoy. The trio is ready to perform, and so is JKB. (ONLINE)
