Responses to Hitler’s regime in Germany took many forms. Using Eric Larson’s In the Garden of Beasts (2011) and the 2010 film version of Tatiana de Rosnay’s novel Sarah’s Key as starting points, Mr. Dincher will explore four “roads” to help us understand how people coped with the new world unfolding after 1933. Some collaborated, often eagerly. Some appeased, a choice made both in and outside Germany. Some dissented, an increasingly dangerous option. And some, to their great peril, resisted. It’s a hard subject, but you won’t want to miss Mr. Dincher’s meditation on the choices people made under Nazi pressure. (Box lunch included)
