Course Description
Meir-Levi offers a survey of earliest Christianity, from the fall of the First Temple (586 BCE) to the pilgrimages of Paul (first century CE). To tell the story, he’ll use archaeology evidence, the Dead Sea Scrolls, Nag Hamadi papyri, and other literary sources. This complex tale begins with a Jewish religious revival from the Temple’s ashes, moves to Rabbinic Judaism, and then to the evolution of Christianity from a particular Jewish messianic sect. It pays to know the roots of things. Let OLLI and Meir-Levi help you understand what lay in the deep soil from which the Christian faith grew. (ONLINE)
