Course Description

The popularity of children’s literature is often due to the profound ideas underlying their memorable adventures. J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books contain many literary flourishes. We will focus most on her thematic treatment of how to deal with evil and death, how to be realistic yet optimistic, and the primacy of friendship as part of a “good life”.
