Course Description

Dr. Baker recently returned from a second trip to Ukraine — first in the capital of Kyiv and a second trip to Odesa.   He taught Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) to Ukrainian physicians and nurses, and Stop the Bleed to both medical and non-medical personnel. He was working on behalf of the International Medical Corps (IMC) and the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative (HHI) which are Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) focused on humanitarian activities. The goal was to improve the care of injured patients resulting from the Russian invasion and war. Dr. Baker will give insight into morale and conditions in Ukraine during this conflict while explaining some of the history, geography, and politics of this region and the conflict.
