Course Description

Dr. Tarramazz Harris will discuss substance use and its impacts on diverse and marginalized populations. He will discuss stigma and shame as it relates to accessing care for those from diverse backgrounds. The impacts of various social issues faced by those from diverse backgrounds and how this impacts recovery efforts. Dr. Harris will dive into the history of substance use in America from a political systems and community health perspective. He will offer resources and treatment options for those with chemical dependency issues. He will discuss the significance of self care and culturally competent and culturally relevant treatment for this phenomenon.
