Course Description

Many of us are looking to expand our variety of home-based activities and projects while we shelter at home.  Join Dr. Berryhill for a view of the universe from your backyard, patio or driveway.  As our air quality has temporarily improved, the result of less air travel and fewer commuters, we have a unique opportunity to enjoy improved views of the night sky.  In this course, we will learn to identify how the colors we observe in the night sky are connected to our very existence as living beings.  These colors tell the fascinating story of stellar evolution and the creation of the elements.  Participants will learn to identify various stages in the star’s lives in the night sky, connecting points in the sky with the beautiful images taken by space telescopes.  Join OLLI and Dr. Berryhill to make your backyard sky gazing experience richer and more interesting.  Equipment not needed but if you own a telescope or binoculars you may enjoy using them.
