Course Description

Intrepid women writers have boldly walked the mean streets of this stereotypically “male” mystery genre. We will discuss compelling works that reveal how women offer their own nihilistic vision of America through the lens of crime fiction: 2 short novels — Dorothy B. Hughes’s “In a Lonely Place” and Megan Abbott’s “Queenpin” as well as short stories as time permits.  (ONLINE)
