Course Description
Heat domes, wildfires, atmospheric rivers, and flooding – climate events are impacting your life, your community and environments around the world. Directly and indirectly, climate change is a human health emergency. Come to this event to learn facts so you can be a better advocate for the clean energy transition.
Here’s what we’ll cover:
o Facts about the environmental price of burning fossil fuels, and why we need to quickly switch to renewable energy.
o How human health is impacted by fossil fuels and global heating.
o How California leads the world in the clean energy transition through technology, legislation and policies, and implementation.
o Innovative climate solutions happening around us at the city, state, and federal levels. These include existing technologies such as building and vehicle electrification, solar, wind, and battery storage and experimental technologies such as green hydrogen and carbon capture and sequestration.
o How individuals and governments can fuel hope and action for a clean and sustainable future.
This overview of climate science will help you understand the news and engage more effectively with the biggest challenge of our lifetimes.
