Course Description
Sailors on rough seas have to ride them out. Writers in tough years must do the same, and 2020 has been a tough one. The pandemic, its economic fallout, social isolation, political and racial instability: rough seas indeed. How to cope? Whether you are new to writing or have a lot of experience, this class will give you tools, a chance to share, and opportunities for writing out the storm that was 2020. We’ll explore how other writers have confronted adversity and turn our hand to experimenting with voice, style, genre and form. In the process, you will build resilience, develop community, have some fun, and move further along in a journey of self-discovery and creative work while together we close out the year. Allow Ms. Dresser and OLLI to help you get your bearings, find fair winds, and calmer seas.
