Course Description

James “Doc” Hale is an experienced naturalist with particular interest in California and the San Francisco Bay Area. He’s agreed to share some of the lore about the land upon which Cal State East Bay’s Concord Campus is located and discuss the wildlife corridor of Galindo Creek, the stream which originates on Mt. Diablo. We’ll learn about what was here before settlers arrived, and what is living here now. We’ll start with a lecture on campus, enjoy lunch together in the campus courtyard then join Doc and OLLI for a memorable stroll through the Galindo Creek Field Station.
Bring your binoculars, magnifying glasses and smart phones so you can spot and identify all creatures great and small!
(In-person, Concord campus)
