Course Description

Bees are much in the news lately and rightly so.  They are vital to preservation of many of our food chains and so threats to them are threats to us. Honeybees represent only a small fraction of the 20,000 known species of bees, but they hold a special place in our affections.  After all, they do make honey!  Ms. Moser offers us a brief history of beekeeping and then takes us into the hive for close looks at such things as bee class structure, mating, communication techniques, and foraging needs.  She’ll add some sorting out of myths vs. facts about bees to remind us of why we care about these fascinating creatures.  Time to get a buzz on with OLLI!
