Course Description

The Armenian Genocide of 1915-1923 was the first modern Genocide of the twentieth century. In this lecture Professor DerMugrdechian will provide an overview of the Genocide and explore its causes. He will focus on the role of the Committee of Union and Progress Party of the Ottoman Empire and how its decision-making is key to an understanding of the tragedy’s origins. He will also provide some historical perspective on Armenians and on the Armenian homeland, which the Genocide decimated.
